Information On Sessions

Newborn Sessions

We recommend that newborns have their shoot in the first week or two after they are born. As a mother of three I completely understand that it is sometimes quite a mission to get out of your pjs let alone get organised for a photography shoot hehe. However bubbas grow into their skin just so quickly and are generally more tolerable of shoots at a younger age. Of course we can capture them up to six weeks as a newborn however the shoot perhaps will be a tad longer especially if we want curled up sleepy newborn shots.

We expect that a newborn session sometimes can take a bit of time therefore there are no time restraints. We understand that feeding and changing etc is a must. We can do studio shoots or at your home. The studio is a comfortable environment with a nice big couch for feeding, heating to keep babies sleepy and cosy etc.There are bathrooms and microwaves available for your use if required. We recommend to give your baby a feed at the beginning of the session to perhaps sleepy them up and keep their tummy content. It isnt uncommon for snack feeding between poses to keep him/her happy.

During your session I may use blankets, wraps, caccoons, beanies, hats, beanbags wtih water protectant sheet etc. These are laundered using low allergy soaps and tumbled dried after each shoot. Please do not concern yourself if your baby sprinkles during any naked poses it is to be expected.

I recommend that if you have siblings to perhaps bring along a helper. (Grandma,Aunt). There are toys available for little ones should they not be required and are getting a little restless.

During your shoot please remember that at any time you are welcome to stop and take a minute with your bubba.I always present the pose to you as the parents prior to setting up the shot so If you are not happy or comfortable with any suggestions please feel comfortable to let me know your concerns.

Family Sessions

Please feel free to bring along as many changes of clothing as you like. I am regularly asked what type of clothing to wear. This all comes down to what you want hanging on the walls. Regarding colouring I always say to think about the family as you were dressing one person. You wouldnt wear a glowing orange shirt alongside a fluro green shirt with green dots as it would clash. Consider something like everyone in earthy tones. Browns, white with browns, black top with jeans, white tops with jeans etc. Try to stay away from the teens favourite brand logos or childrens favourite character printed across tops. I feel this takes away from the subject. This is not to say you cant go with patterns these can be a nice contrast just consider colours against other colours. Hats/beanies sometimes can just finish off closer portraits for both boys and girls so do bring some along if you would like. If you are having trouble you are more than welcome to bring along some choices and change once you arrive at the studio.

Family shoots can be on location such as a farm with old gates, doors, wooden building, long grass, perhaps a beach a jetty etc or in the studio.

The choice is yours. Location shoots however can not be taken with the mini shoot.

Children Sessions

I prefer to capture natural candid style shots sometimes gently persuading them into posing, however some of the best photographs are the ones that are not "say cheese" smile into the camera shots. Generally we ask that you leave the direction mainly to the photographer whom will ask for you to step in if required. We dont want to put too much pressure on children to peform.Generally children respond quite well to the photographer once they have warmed up however it doesnt hurt to perhaps bring along some "not so messy" snacks and perhaps some wipes to keep faces and fingers clean.

When making your booking I am more than happy to work around nap times or a time that suits your child the best. Clothing ~ It is best to stick away from character wear as I feel it destracts from the subject. Bright colours can often be a great choice or white linens with denim. Please feel free to bring along further outfits for a variety of photos and if you are completely undecided bring them along and show the photographer and ask for an opinion.

You may want to have a think about the type of prints you want hanging on your wall. Do you want classic posing, do you want Dad hanging the boys upside down or tickles times captured, do you want some soft mummy and daughter shots, moderm captures such as feet all lined up or a pile of hands of the whole family. The options are endless. On the day of your shoot I will present you with loads of options sometimes the kids taking the shoot in a different direction depending on what they are up to hehe.If you have some ideas prior to your shoot just drop me an email or give me a call on 1300 722 692.

Maternity Sessions

Generally maternity sessions are booked from 31 weeks - 37 weeks.We want to show a nice rounded belly but dont want to leave it until the last moment when you are uncomfortable and may not be able to move around so comfortably. The studio is filled with soft music and an oil burner and lots of inspirational photos flicking on the flat screen tv on the wall for you to view. Generally we ask if you can avoid wearing bras and tight clothing a couple of hours prior to your shoot so to not leave marks on your skin. Maternity sessions are to capture this gorgeous feminine time of your life. You will never be pressured to show more skin than you are comfortable with and the photographer will go through with you prior as to what type/style of shots you are after. You will be offered feminine semi nude shots with carefully place partners hands etc to modern jeans ounbuttoned and your favourite maternity top. The choice is completely up to you. The photographers job is to give you some options to make choices from. Bring along as many outfits choices as you like and we do have a makeup artist that is local that for a small fee she will pamper you prior if requested. This is most uneccassary but an option. Maternity shoots are always password protected unless you ask otherwise.

Model Sessions

Generally maternity sessions are booked from 31 weeks - 37 weeks.Model Portfolios are offered by One Shot Studios in Brisbane. We have a studio or happy to do location shoots depending on your requirements. You are given all images purchased on disc to use as you wish and in print also if required. Full resolution images are included on the disc as are websized and watermarked versions. Websized images are websharpened which it is important to keep the standard of image to the best you can for webpages. Commercial Sessions

Depending on the product this can be done location or in studio. Generally high key (bright white background for websites) will be done in the studio. Generally the product will be left or sent to the photographer to do the shoot and returned on completion. One Shot Studios is located in Brisbane however we are happy to travel to location shouly you require.

Childrens clothing shotos~One Shot Studios shoots a few childrens clothing lines. We also shoot for two model agencies so have access to mini models. Depending on the product and time allocated One Shot Studios can get models whom are happy to do the work for free provided they get to keep the images and the product. You then just need to pay the photographer for the shoot to keep your costs down. This works well for promoting your product also as the parents then refer friends and family to view their child on your website therefore creating traffic for your site.
